Chief Whip of the National Parliament, Md. Nurul Islam has stated that the government is focusing on expanding the use of renewable energy to achieve long-term stability and self-reliance in the power sector. He made these remarks on Sunday following a meeting on renewable energy management at the parliament.

The Chief Whip said that the government is gradually moving towards renewable energy to ensure a sustainable solution in the power sector. As part of this initiative, a solar power system has already been installed at the National Parliament building.

He informed that there are plans to gradually install solar panels on government buildings at the district and upazila levels as well.

Md. Nurul Islam mentioned that the country’s power situation and the issue of tackling the crisis will be discussed in the upcoming parliamentary session. At the same time, he expressed hope that the opposition party would ultimately participate in the constitution amendment committee.

He further added that it is not yet certain whether the 16 ordinances canceled in the first session will be brought up for discussion in the next session. Laws can be passed in any session while the parliament is running. However, the main focus of the upcoming budget session will be on budget discussions.
